The Art
Colleen creates from her home studio near Franktown and works primarily on synthetic paper. Her art is an exercise in observation, drawing in the viewer to find small details and hidden gems. Each art piece is accompanied by a unique story created specifically for the artwork. All of life has a story and she enjoys sharing her creation stories with the world.
The Background

Colleen’s heritage is of Mi’kmaq/Acadian/Irish descent raised in Petawawa, Ontario in a large, and happy family. Her art skills are self-taught through fearless exploration and numerous failed attempts.
Muses: Frank Howell, Howard Terpning, Kirby Satler, Jay Bell Redbird, Edward Curtis
Through her art, Colleen’s intention is to connect people to the Indigenous understanding that all things are connected and living is a sacred act. Art is a powerful medium that can be used to teach, speak and learn from. It can break isolation, invite critical thinking and wherever artists live, the landscape becomes more beautiful. She is available for commissions and live painting events.
Colleen sells her original work as supplemental income so she can continue to be a volunteer with her project, Art for Aid. Since 2013, her project has put much needed (free) art supplies into the hands of Indigenous youth in remote Canada. Fundraising items are sold at www.artforaidshop.ca to help with Art for Aid’s high shipping costs.
