Graham Mastersmith is a painter, photographer, and printmaker with a deep passion for ornithology. He lives in Carp, Ontario, on the ridge, next to four hundred acres of forest, and feels most at home surrounded by trees. Graham is captivated by the intricate beauty and fragility of the natural world, which is evident in his unique mixed-media artworks that often feature birds. His art showcases a distinctive blend of various influences and styles. With a background in printmaking, much of his work incorporates layered images, photography, washes of colour, patterns, and textures. By juxtaposing realism with abstraction in his paintings, Graham aims to provide a fresh perspective on trees, birds, and the natural world.
You can view a more extensive collection of his art on his website at www.mastersmith.ca. He also shares his art practice on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/grahammastersmith. Graham looks forward to showcasing his paintings again in the near future at the beautiful Art Hub Gallery in Carleton Place. Until then, he can be reached by email at art@mastersmith.ca.
