For over 30 years, Kristy Depper established a career as a commercial photographer and retoucher, but following a personal tragedy and a move back to Ottawa, she unexpectedly discovered a profound passion for painting. Though she once doubted her ability to draw, her intuitive artistic path now focuses on expressive marks and bold colour layering in watercolor, acrylics, and pastels, aiming to capture the essence and joy of the natural world rather than realism. 

Kristy holds an MFA from NSCAD University and a BFA from Toronto Metropolitan University; she currently uses her education to teach elementary school in Ottawa by day.
