Brian is a self-taught artist who has been drawing on and off for many years. He worked for Coca-Cola for 40 years and when he retired, he decided to get back into doing art again. He considers himself a pastel artist but also does coloured pencil, graphite and some acrylic painting. He has done and continues to do a wide variety of drawings of people, places, animals, landscapes–basically he can draw almost anything.

His favourite medium is pastel pencils, he loves the way pastel can be blended and layered but also how he can create some very detailed pieces too. Brian has been asked to do many commissions because of his realistic style whether it’s a portrait of a person, family or pet or dwelling, Brian is always up for the challenge.

In 2022, Brian’s coloured pencil drawing of a Red-Tailed Hawk, was chosen to be featured in Ann Kullberg’s Coloured Pencil Magazine, “CP Hidden Treasures 7”. Brian and his wife Leane (also an Arts Carleton Place Artist) have also painted five murals, currently on display in the Township of North Frontenac, Ontario.
