David Desormeaux

Discovering the world in the little things

David is a self-taught artist who took up painting when he retired. He arbitrarily chose watercolours as his medium and quickly discovered that he had found his passion. He paints exclusively with watercolours and continually takes on the challenges and opportunities that the medium offers.

David is fascinated by the texture of things. “When you look closely at even the most common objects, you find colours and patterns that are completely unexpected. It’s a source of endless inspiration.”

His current work is based on a realistic approach to representing the subject but occasionally experiments with loose or abstract paintings. 

David is a member of several artist organizations in the Ottawa area. He lives in Carleton Place.
