Jennifer Prevost’s artistic journey began in childhood, where her fearless curiosity led her to explore a variety of mediums. Her passion for art deepened as she earned a coveted spot in the Bachelor of Fine Arts program at Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada. Under the guidance of esteemed mentors such as Carl Heywood, Otis Tamasauskas, Dan Oxley, and Jan Winton, Jennifer refined her skills in litho stone printmaking, sculpting with reclaimed materials, and ultimately discovered her true passion in oil painting.

Now based in Ottawa, Jennifer’s work spans both urban and natural landscapes, capturing the city’s essence through her vibrant, evocative paintings. Iconic landmarks such as the Rideau Canal and Parliament Hill frequently appear in her work, reflecting her connection to the area’s cultural heritage. She also enjoys painting lesser-known local spots—like a cozy restaurant in Chinatown or a hidden bank along Mudd Lake—that hold special meaning for Ottawa residents.

Jennifer draws inspiration from the rugged beauty of the Canadian landscape, particularly the Gatineau Hills and the banks of the Ottawa River. Armed with her camera and ukulele, she searches for those fleeting moments of natural beauty that fuel her creativity, whether it’s the poetry of snow-covered trees or a sunset over the city.

Jennifer’s work is regularly showcased in Ottawa’s vibrant art scene, including exhibitions like The New Art Festival, Art in the Park, and Art in Strathcona. She is also an active member of Arts Carleton Place, where she collaborates with fellow artists and contributes to the local arts community. Through her art, Jennifer invites viewers to experience both the iconic and intimate sides of Ottawa, while also celebrating the timeless beauty of Canada’s natural landscapes.
