Leane Bailey started drawing with coloured pencils in 2017, after retiring from a busy teaching career. She learned her art skills by following several other artists in Canada, the USA, and England. Her favourite subjects are pets, and wildlife, many based on her own photographs of wildlife in North Frontenac, Ontario where she lives with her husband Brian Bailey (also an Arts Carleton Place artist).

Leane’s favourite medium is coloured pencils, because she likes the fine detail she can get drawing with coloured pencils. Leane has also done some pastel drawings, and some acrylic paintings as well, to expand her art skills. In 2022, one of Leane’s coloured pencil pet drawings “Sadie” was featured in Ann Kullberg’s Coloured Pencil Magazine “CP Hidden Treasures 7”. Leane and Brian (Art By The Baileys) have also painted 5 large murals currently on display in the Township of North Frontenac.

Leane has done several commissioned pieces for clients in Ontario, mainly of their pets, but also a few landscapes as well. Leane and Brian Bailey have an art gallery on their Facebook page, Art By The Baileys where visitors can view their artwork, see their current art projects, ask questions, and purchase artwork.
