Steve Rothfuchs
Inspired by artists, music and literature

Steve Rothfuchs’ skills are largely self-taught but were also evolved through part time study at the Ottawa School of Art. Working with, and learning from, local artists during extensive periods abroad both broadened and deepened his own understanding and attitudes.
Steve works mainly in oils and watercolours with a focus on portraits. A range of artists, including Edwin Holgate, Otto Dix and Käthe Kollwitz, provide some of the styles and directions that influence him. Inspiration often arrives through other means, such as the music of artists like John Coltrane, or the work of literary figures such as Dambudzo Marachena.
