Wildlife painter Wendy Quirt lives in Ottawa, Canada. As a youth, she lived outdoors exploring Ottawa’s green space, local creeks, and woodland areas. From a young age, she was keenly interested in nature and spent much of her time sketching and painting wildlife. After obtaining a degree at Carleton University and working in the high-tech industry, she felt a powerful pull to follow her childhood dream of being a wildlife artist. She traded in her high-tech career and committed herself to wildlife art in 2007.

She attended workshops across North America and trained with some of the best in wildlife art. Now she goes from adventure to adventure, seeking wildlife and beautiful landscapes to share in her paintings. Her creative process starts with an idea, camera, and sketchbook, gathering reference material. The experience, observations and memories help create an authenticity to her paintings. She’s known for her realistic style and lifelike quality in her paintings.

Her award-winning work has shown internationally and hangs in many private collections. Local publications and tv programming have featured her work. She has also illustrated short story anthologies. Dedicated to nature and committed to preserving wildlife and their habitats, her work has and continues to help raise funds for a variety of conservation organizations. She is a Signature Member of Artists for Conservation. She visits local classrooms and groups talking about wildlife and the creative process. An experienced art teacher, she enjoys sharing her knowledge with students of all ages. She hopes to share the beauty and value of nature through her art and discussions of the natural world.

“I hope to share the beauty of the natural world through my paintings.”
